RETOOL Team Melts The Road

Our RETOOL team sees plenty while they’re traveling the country. They get to meet HVAC/R techs at distributors from California to Florida, but they also hit the road to see plenty of what our country has to offer.

We’re checking in with our dedicated group of six to see how the winter of 2014 has treated them and to ask about their travels.

Q: Did you see anything interesting on the drive? Animals? Mountains?

A: Many people don’t know that I carry my mountain bike with me during my travels. This has given me the opportunity to see quite a bit of wildlife. The two most memorable encounters were a bobcat in my bike path in Jacksonville and a black bear in Ocala, Fla. (Luckily, I was still in the truck when I came across the bear).

Q: What are some of the best pictures you’ve taken on the road?

A: Look for yourself.

I attended a pig roast at Johnstone in Bloomington, Minn. It’s a very popular event every year.

I pulled my truck in front of this giant muskie at Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway in Hayward, Wis. I had no idea what a muskie was until a local distributor educated me.

Q: What was your favorite song you listened to and why?

A: I don’t listen to a lot of music in my truck. I mostly listen to the comedy channels on my satellite radio and books on tape. My favorite comedian would probably be Hannibal Buress.

Q: How was the weather this winter?

A: The weather was amazing this winter despite a couple of snow storms.

Q: What’s the most bizarre thing you’ve seen while on the road?

A: The most bizarre thing I have seen is the crazy ice buildup on my wheels while traveling through a Texas ice storm. Coming from Minnesota, I didn’t think Texas could even come close to the bad weather we experience up north, but I learned the ice storms down here are actually worse. And being stranded at a hotel for four days was no fun.

Q: How was the weather this winter?

A: The weather was awful. I flew from Kansas City to Charlotte on a Wednesday and spent Wednesday and Thursday night sleeping on the airport floor in Charlotte due to snow and ice storms. All the hotels were booked in the area. I never want to go through that again!
